Berkeley Lab: Physicist Postdoctoral Fellow

Berkeley Lab’s Accelerator Technology & Applied Physics Division has multiple openings for Physicist Postdoctoral Fellows to work at the Center for Beam Physics (CBP) and the Berkeley Lab Laser Accelerator (BELLA) Center to develop and apply advanced computational methods and tools for plasma accelerators.

In collaboration with the Computational Research Division at LBNL, the National Energy Research Supercomputing Center, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, our team will lead the development of a new simulation tool that will harness the power of future exascale supercomputers for the exploration of outstanding questions in the physics of acceleration and transport of particle beams in chains of plasma channels. The new code will combine two major software components: the Particle-In-Cell framework Warp and the Adaptive Mesh Refinement BoxLib, and is one of the 15 research applications that are being funded by the Department of Energy’s Exascale Computing Project.

Job: NERSC Data Postdoctoral Fellow for High-Energy Physics

The National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) is inviting applications for the position for a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct applied research and development in the area of high-performance scientific computing (HPC) for experimental High-Energy Physics (HEP). The position is part of a larger effort to enable pathbreaking data-intensive science with NERSC’s next generation manycore supercomputer, the Cray KNL-based “Cori” system and also part of a cross-lab HEP center of computing excellence
